Welcome!
So, you’re a little dev curious. Maybe you’ve got a dead-end job that you hate, or are watching your industry slowly collapse and are looking for the next thing. Look no further! Software development as an industry isn’t going away anytime soon (despite what no-code advocates might say). Software is eating the whole world, automating most of the stupid tasks out of our lives.
And you can be the one to do that.
If you are reading this, you have the equipment you need to become a software developer (mobile users might need an external keyboard).
Aside from the great mission of making the world run more smoothly, and eliminating time wasted through updating Excel spreadsheets by hand, you’re probably thinking “what’s the benefit to me?”
Good call, let’s talk about that.
Salary
Coding bootcamp graduates report an average salary of $69k (nice) upon graduating link
Median software development salary: $86k according to this site.
Experienced developers at FAANG (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google) make minimum 250k a year.
That’s some cheddar right there.
Flexibility
Software development as a whole is going fullly remote. After you get your feet underneath you, you can work from anywhere for anyone. I don’t put on real clothes until I’m ready to. My commute is ~6 seconds from the bedroom to the computer. My dogs are always there for a midday walk.
Transferable Skills
Software development is a sweet gig, you can work it your whole life if you want. You’ll never be tied to one particular employer or one particular set of problems to solve. Every day, recruiters on LinkedIn are sliding into my DMs trying to get me to quit my job to get a different dev job.
And when you’re ready, it’ll also give you the skills to start your own Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company.
Sounds Great but how do I get there?
I’m here to walk you through the process from 0 software development knowledge to getting your first job in the industry.
We’re going to target web development specifically because it doesn’t require specialized equipment, the job market is hot and getting hotter, and it supports a full remote lifestyle.
We’re going to walk through some basic stuff like HTML, Javascript, CSS and how they work together in your browser to make the Document Object Model (DOM)
We’re going to cover some common Javascript UI frameworks that most companies use.
We’ll touch on server-side technologies and general software architecture.
We’re going to give you, the reader, the skills and prep you need to crush your interview (maybe not the first one though!) and get yourself on the way to that sweet dev lifestyle.
This may not come easy, it may be 6 months of focused effort before things start clicking in your head, but everyone has the skills they need to become a software developer. You just have to put in the work. And I’ll be there every step of the way.
Get excited. This is the beginning of an amazing journey

Looking forward tot he rest. I started playing with docker and wordpress thanks to Devil. Hopefully there's a QA sometime so we can pick your brain for the best transfer. My situation is a bit odd but I use Python for automating network devices. I'm sure there has to be a good transition.
